Non-white Americans had disproportionately more COVID-19 deaths

After adjusting for age, Black people made up 21.6% of the total death count, 8.9 percentage points more than their age-adjusted share of the population.

Hispanic/Latino refers to people of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race. All other races included in this chart have Non-Hispanic ethnicity; American Indian includes Alaska Native; Pacific Islander includes Native Hawaiian.
