Nearly two-thirds of Americans say war in Afghanistan was not worth fighting

A new AP-NORC poll finds that a majority of Americans – including majorities of Democrats and Republicans – say the war in Afghanistan was not worth fighting. Democrats are more likely than Republicans to say so.

Results based on interviews with 1,729 U.S. adults conducted Aug. 12–16. The margin of error is ±3.2 percentage points for the full sample.
