Sweden's NATO bid stalled
Along with Finland, Sweden was one of two traditionally neutral Nordic nations to request NATO membership following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. While Finland was admitted earlier this year, Sweden's bid has been held up by Turkey and Hungary. Expanding the alliance must be unanimous.
